Oh Melo Velo rides again in 2006!    Come join the usual suspects for this unique ride series.

The kickoff ride of 2006, first Wednesday of April and in perfect weather for the second year in a row.

  • Date: April 5 through September 27

  • Time: each Wednesday at 6:00pm EDT !PROMPT! starts, finish at sunset.

  • Location: MacGregor Village Shopping Center, near US-1 US-64 split.

  • Pace: whatever your heart can stand!

  • You can ride a fixed time or distance:
    ride 1/2 your time and U-turn, or
    ride 1/2 your distance and U-turn.

  • Duration/Distance

    • Distance is calculated to 18 mph average,
      bonus segment often routed,
      approximately 800 miles total for the year.

    • April 5: initial duration is 1:44,
      initial distance is 30 miles.

    • June 21: increase duration to 2:35,
      increase distance to 48 miles.

    • September 27: taper duration to 1:05,
      taper distance to 20 miles.

  • All routes are out, U-turn, and return.

  • Most routes start/finish on Old Raleigh Road to the West.

  • Some routes start/finish on US-64/Tryon Rd/Regency to the South.

  • Warmup and stay together for 5 minutes.

  • No stops.
