Compared to 11-12-01. FINDINGS: A total right hip prosthesis is present. There is no evidence of prosthetic loosening or fracture about the prosthesis. The distal end of the femoral component, is not included on the study. There are acute fractures of the right superior and inferior pubic rami. Although these were previously identified on 11-12-01, there has been a significant increase in the degree of displacement, especially of the superior pubic ramus fracture. The remainder of the pelvis appear intact. Also noted is discontinuity of adjacent right side sacral arcuate lines, representing sacral fracture. This appearance has not changed significantly since the prior study. There is significant chronic degenerative disease of the L4-5 intervertebral disc space and involving the left hip. 1. Total right hip prosthesis. 2. Acute fractures of the right sacral ala and right superior and inferior pubic rami as previously noted. 3. Comparison to the prior study demonstrates increased displacement of the right superior pubic ramus fracture. 4. Significant degenerative disease at the L4-5 intervertebral disc space and involving the left hip. Findings phoned to the referring physician's office upon interpretation of the films. Radiologists don't like to see positives, they are trained on the traditional negative image, but a positive makes sense to me as a layperson. Bones and steel appear dark, the darker, the denser. The fracture is easier to see here. |
