Separated from the nine other tandems and one single on Saturday, Jeanne and I crashed due to pilot error crossing railroad tracks on River Road entering Wilmington. We both fractured our pelvises, shattered helmets and knocked unconscious, roadrash galore, EMSed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center emergency, and it was more than an hour before I have any recollection of anything. Don't know if we travelled in the same EMS. After many xrays of shoulders, spines, hand, hip, and a head CAT scan each, NHRMC released us saying nothing broken. Monday, still in much pain, we were seen at a Duke clinic and shown the fxs there. Doc thinks it's even worse than the xrays show, more than one pelvic fx each. 5-6 weeks on crutches/walker, no weight bearing, no riding. Maizey doesn't appear to be in bad shape, just twisted at some collared adjustments. |
Pelvis Fx
This is a generic xray, not either of us, that I've graphically modified to show how
Jeanne's fractures appear in her actual xray. On our Nov 12 visit to the orthopedic clinic, I didn't see her xray. This is based on a Dec 12 xray. |
The Black and Blue Duo
As you learned from Stoker Jeanne's black eye, she usually exhibits bruises far more colorfully than FastEddy.
While her B&B mark covers more territory, I think mine is of a deeper hue.
